The TBT National Enquiry Point

What are Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT)?

They are the technical regulations, national standards and conformity assessment procedures in every country that are laid down to ensure product quality or to safeguard important national interests such as health, life or the environment.

These technical regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures vary according to the objective of each Member country of the WTO. When such requirements are made too stringent than necessary that suppliers in other countries cannot fulfill, they become Technical Barriers to Trade.
