The TBT National Enquiry Point

Functions:

  1. Respond to all (reasonable) enquiries from other Member countries on national technical regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures;

  2. Respond to enquiries on the membership and participation in international and regional standardizing bodies and conformity assessment systems as well as in bilateral arrangements;

  3. Acknowledge the receipt of an enquiry, without further request;

  4. Provide relevant documents regarding technical regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures and participation in regional and international standardizing bodies to the requesting Member country;

  5. Provide information on the location of notices published pursuant of the Agreement or the provision of information as to where such information can be obtained;

  6. Help the domestic industries by providing information about other Members' standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures;

  7. Issue alerts about new technical regulations enacted or contemplated by trading partners which may affect domestic exporters.

  8.  Provide documents covered by other Members' notifications to domestic enquirers by getting these from other Members' enquiry points.
