The TBT National Enquiry Point

The TBT National Committee:

 

A multi-sectoral TBT National Committee is being formed to oversee operation of National Enquiry Point and provide policies and guidelines keeping national interest in view in implementing TBT Agreement.

 

The role of this committee would be to:

a)   monitor  operation  and administration of the TBT Agreement in respect of the roles and responsibilities of the Enquiry Point;

 

b)   monitor and act on issues/standards of export and domestic markets that could be considered as barriers to trade;

 

c)   coordinate with concerned ministries/agencies on  responses to WTO notifications and enquiries;

 

d)   help coordinate Bhutan’s notifications to the WTO (authority responsible for notifications in Bhutan is the Department of Trade, MTI);

 

e)  To consider  policy matters related to TBT which could affect international trade;
