Membership to ISO
Under WTO TBT, it has become obligatory for all standardizing bodies within the country to abide by the Code of Good Practice for the Preparation, Adoption and Application of Standards. Wherever international standards exist, the TBT agreement encourages a member country to adopt them in order to develop standards along international norms, and to get access to wealth of information on standards, Standards and Quality Control Authority under the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement has become a correspondent member of the International Organization for Standardization representing Bhutan, since 1st January 2005.
Since then, SQCA has been in receipt of ISO journals and documents, and access to ISO standards online. SQCA has become an observer member of the following committees, where Bhutan can participate in the discussions without the right to vote.
